Archive for May, 2006

We went out and bought an air conditioner today.  We put it in the office because there are no plugs by the windows in the bedroom.  This way, hopefully, some of the air will get into the living room.

Buddy has been shedding his winter coat and it is driving me absolutely crazy.  I have to vacuum the floors every day and wash his bed at least once a week.  When I clean out the lint trap after washing his bed, I think I could have made about 5 dog-hair sweaters by now.  Hopefully, he's almost done.  I gave him a bath yesterday and the whole shower was covered in dog hair.  I've also been brushing him outside, but he's still shedding all over the place.

Today I think I'm going to start reading a new book.  My grandma gave me "Round Robin" by Jennifer Chiaverini awhile ago and I still haven't read it.  I've been watching the seasons of Friends, but now Chad has gotten into it and I promised I wouldn't watch any while he was gone.  We're almost done with them, anyway, and what are we going to do then?

Well, that's about it.  I've got almost the whole week off this week, which is nice, but it isn't very good for my paycheck.  My boss has us make a to-do list before he leaves and then when we're done, we have to go home (prevents getting paid for being there and doing nothing) and I have a suspicion that I'll finish my list tomorrow.  What I'll do for the rest of the week, I just don't know.

Yesterday was interesting, to say the least.  I came home for lunch, let Buddy in the house and went back outside to get his food.  Well, when I went back out for his food, I locked the door behind me and had no keys, no phone…nothing…and I had to be back to work in 45 minutes.  I didn't know what to do, so I asked to borrow the neighbor's phone (which was very awkward because I don't think he likes me much).  I called Chad first and he was no help at all, but luckily, he was getting home early.  Then I called work and the answering machine was still on.  Then I called my boss's cell phone and it was off.  Then I called work again and this time, there was someone there and the hygienist came to pick me up.  It was so embarassing.

Up early cleaning the house again.  Now that I'm back to work full-time, I'm just too tired to do it at night.  Deep down, I'm a morning person anyway.

Not much has been going on except for work.  We had a patient in yesterday that was sick (WHY did she come in???Yell) and I think I might have gotten her stomach bug.  I'm not sure yet, though…maybe it's just that I'm up early and I'm not usually up this early…I don't know.

Just two more work days this week.  Thursday is going to be really nasty because my boss is leaving the next morning and he's going to be all stressed out about everything and NO ONE will be able to do anything right.

Anyway, going to go clean the house before I have to go to work…

Finals are done!  YAY!!!  I got A's on all my courses except Logic (B) and Chemistry (grade isn't in yet…pretty sure it's a C).  I'm just glad to be done now, though!

Yesterday, Chad and I took Buddy to the dog park.  He got along really well with about 10 other dogs.  That surprised us because the Humane Society told us that he doesn't get along with all other dogs.  The only problem came when 2 other male dogs decided they wanted to be dominant and started jumping on his back.  He didn't appreciate that.

Then, today we took him to Chad's parents house for a picnic.  He let everyone pet him and he was so good with little kids.  I like getting him around a lot of people because I don't think he was socialized much when he was a puppy.

Tonight, Chad and I are going to see United 93.  I'm looking forward to it.  :)

I'm almost done with finals!  Two more tomorrow and then I'm done.  Most people dread finals week, but I love it…I have a lot more free time (no classes) and no homework!  Hehe.  I was going to go in to work in between finals tomorrow, but the hygienist said not to bother (I'd only be able to be there for 1 1/2 hours).  That's the first time I've ever been told not to come in to work!  *LOL*

I've been having a lot of headaches lately.  Chad thought maybe I should drink more, so I drank a lot today (I was running to the bathroom all day), but I still got them.  I felt so cruddy when I got home that I didn't even feel like making supper.  McDonalds got to make supper tonight.

Hoping to get the kitchen floor mopped tomorrow.  It's gotten really bad, but I didn't want to mop it because of all the rain and Buddy would be tracking mud all over it.  It looks like it should be pretty sunny for the next few days, though.

What else?  Oh, I'm finally selling my textbooks (from this semester and last semester) on half.com.  I think they're outrageously overpriced right now, but I'll lower the prices tomorrow if I still haven't gotten anything (never hurts to try, does it?).

Anyway, I'm going to go make my grocery list for tomorrow…*ugh*…I hate grocery shopping…Yell

For your information, I hit the floor running on Wednesday and Thursday.  Not today, though.  Chad left at 4, but I couldn't drag myself out of bed until 6.  Got two finals today.  I'm not really worried about any of them, though, because only 2 out of the 6 are cumulative.  Most of them are just like the tests I've been taking all semester.

For Mother's Day, we're going down to see my grandparents and then my parents and brothers and sisters.  We're going to try and see Chad's mom before we head down there, though.  I'm looking forward to it…we haven't seen most of them in a long time, although my mom and grandma came up to meet the grand-puppy right after we got him.

Anyway, I'm going to  keep "running".  Haha.  Are you running yet, Kelley?

I hit the floor running this morning…*LOL*  Chad had to leave at 6, so I got up then instead of pretending I was still dead until 7.  I got the bed made (a major accomplishment in itself…hehe), a load of laundry almost done, and I'm off in a few minutes to tackle the dishes that I *should* have done last night.

Isn't it an *icky* day today?  Ugh.

Next week is finals…*ugh*…but after that, I'm taking a shot at working from home.  A friend is helping me start a home-based business and I really hope it works out because then I'm quitting my job at the dentist's office at the end of the summer.  Even though he's a jerk and everything, I'm still kind of scared of quitting.  I definitely had security in that job.  I know that I've got that job for as long as I want it.  But…we all know that he'll hire someone else and 2 weeks later, she'll quit and the position will be open again.  I'm pretty sure that if I need/want to go back in the spring, I'll be able to.  We'll just see what happens.  I never thought that I'd actually be reluctant to quit that job…but I pretty much have to…my Fall school schedule just doesn't match up with his.

*Most people don’t know that back in 1912, Hellmann’s mayonnaise was
manufactured in England . *

*In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment
scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico , *

*which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop
in New York .

This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever
delivered to Mexico . *

*But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York . *

*The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost.

The people of Mexico , who were crazy about mayonnaise, *

* and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. *

*Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of
Mourning, **which they still observe to this day.

The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known,
of course, *

*as *

*Sinko de Mayo.

WHAT!!!! You expected something educational from me! *

I've been researching which college I want to go to next…believe me, the answer changes almost every day.  Yesterday, I was pretty sure I wanted to go to Marian, but now I'm looking at UW – Madison and UW – Milwaukee….UW – Oshkosh is pretty much ruled out because of their huge waiting list.  Would you believe that there are fewer requirements for getting into Madison than there are for getting into Milwaukee?  And…if I was able to get into Madison, I would be able to go next Fall instead of waiting an extra year?  If I want to go to Milwaukee or Oshkosh, I'll have to wait 'til 2008…AND….I don't even need Biology!!  hehe  All I need is Chemistry (which I'm taking this summer), Biochemistry (which I can take this Fall), Human Anatomy (which I'm taking this Fall), Human Physiology (which I'm taking in the Spring), Intro to Psych (which I'm taking in the Fall), Intro to Sociology (which I'm finishing right now), and Human Growth and Development (which is an 8-week course that I can take in Appleton…it costs $800, but….)

Anyway, I'm going to try to talk to my advisor either today or tomorrow and see if I should drop Biology and get into Biochem….

*Blech*  Woke up this morning and started thinking, "Boy, am I glad it's Monday and not Tuesday because if it was Tuesday, I'd have to be up earlier bececause I have English…" and that's when it hit me that I spent all weekend fooling around and not doing much of anything and I HAVE AN ENGLISH PAPER DUE ON TUESDAY!!!

Then, I got to school and looked at my calendar and realized I HAVE A CHEMISTRY QUIZ TODAY!!!

I don't know where my mind was all weekend and now I'm stuck playing catch-up.  I've got the English paper done (as done as it's going to get) and I have about 15 minutes to skim the chemistry pages.  It'll be OK, I guess (no matter how far behind I get, it always turns out OK in the end).  I just wish I would have looked at my calendar on Friday and realized that I DID HAVE STUFF TO DO!!!

But…I didn't have to make lunch today because I made a sandwich for Chad last night and he FORGOT IT…so I ate it.  hehe

This week won't be so bad….I only have to see my boss tomorrow and that's it (of course, we are working 8 hours straight tomorrow…*blech*).  He's in Minneapolis today at a dental convention and he's leaving again on Wednesday.  He's telling everyone else that he's going to a dental convention in the Dells, but he's really going turkey hunting.  I don't care where he's going, as long as he's on vacation.  He needs one.
