Baby Quilt!

Here’s the picture I promised of Kelvin’s quilt! Obviously, the borders aren’t sewn on yet because we ran out of time (my grandma is going to do it before she quilts it), but we put the fabric for the borders next to it so everyone could see what it will look like.

Engraving

Have you been looking for a special gift for someone close to you? One of the hardest things about gift giving (for me, at least) is trying to find something that’s personal, but also something that they can use on a regular basis. You don’t want it to only be functional, because you want it to have a quality that makes them think of you every time they use it. But you don’t want it to just be personal, because if it isn’t something they’ll use regularly, it will just be put in a drawer and eventually forgotten.

Before our wedding, I was faced with the decision of what to get my bridesmaids. I struggled with that decision for weeks. Finally, I decided to get them engraved jewelry boxes. They were heart shaped and said “Thanks for sharing our dreams.” and then our wedding date. I was really happy with that decision because I know most of them still use it, and it reminds them of us whenever they see it.

So if you’re looking for a good gift, make sure you consider engraving to make your gift personal. With engraving equipment these days, they can do engraving on almost anything! I’m sure you’ll be happy with your decision, too!

Just a few pictures of how Ava wanted to spend quite a bit of her time with Grandma and Grandpa. I’m so glad that she loves reading so much!!

Plus, some really cute ones of her with Grandpa.

I also had my 30 week appointment on Monday. Everything went good. I’ve been having some dizzy spells, but my doctor thinks it might be from fluctuations in blood pressure. Other than that, there was really no other news.

Best Diet Pills

I know a lot of my blog readers are mommies, so I’m sure it’s safe to say that some of us have a little bit of baby fat we’d like to shed. Actually, I feel like I don’t have any fat on my stomach at all right now because everything’s stretched so tight it’s about to tear. But in about two months, I know I’m going to be left with an unattractive lump of fat and skin where this little guy once was. And when that time comes, I’m pretty sure I’m going to be looking at all my options for losing that baby fat. I remember with Ava I couldn’t wait for my six week postpartum checkup so that I could start exercising and trying to get rid of that ugly fat. I did end up losing most of it…all but five pounds. After this baby, I’d really like to get back down to my pre-Ava weight, though.

So we all know that the most basic ways to lose weight are by watching what we eat and exercising. But what if you’ve been doing that for quite some time and it just isn’t enough to get rid of that weight you have been trying to lose? That’s where a lot of people would consider diet pills. However, we all know how important it is to do our research and make sure a diet pill is safe and effective before we start taking it. You want to make sure you’re taking the Best Diet Pill, right? That’s where this website comes in! They’ve done the research for you! They’ve gone through 200 different kinds of diet pills and narrowed them down to the very best, based on value, safety, effectiveness, quality, customer feedback, reorder rates and the company’s reputation! And they have the list of the best diet pills right on their site, along with the cheapest online price and a link to a place to buy them at the lowest price! So if you’re considering taking diet pills, make sure you check out this site!

OK, I am here. Our life was pretty much back to normal today, but we still really miss having my grandparents here with us. It was so awesome having them here….we felt really lonely after they left.

We got quite a few projects done while they were here! Chad and my grandpa built Ava a toy box (pictures to follow) and my grandma and I got Kelvin’s quilt completely done, except the borders which my grandma said she’d put on for me (pictures to follow of that, too). Plus, we got a lot of other stuff done…replacing the downstairs toilet seat, fixing door handles, weeding (that was all my grandpa, though), moving the office into our bedroom.

I’d have to say that my favorite part of their visit was when we just played cards, though. I really love playing cards and board games. Plus, it’s nice because we’re all sitting around the table instead of people running in all different directions.

One nice thing was that there were two extra people to help with entertaining Ava. Because that’s the hardest part of taking care of her…it isn’t the feeding, bathing, changing, etc. that really wears you out. It’s the following her around and helping her stay busy!! Plus, for some reason, even though I’m with her all day and spend a huge part of the day playing with her, I always feel guilty when I have to do something that divides my attention between her and something else (i.e. making supper, cleaning, etc.). So it was kind of nice having a few days where even when I couldn’t give her my undivided attention, someone else was. And she loved it, too…anytime she’s the center of attention, she’s happy. LOL And Chad and I even got to go to a movie ALONE for the first time in a very long time! We went to see the Dark Knight (Chad loved it…I though it was OK) while my grandparents kept Ava. That was really nice, too.

We also had my baby shower during their visit…I’ve got a ton of pictures that I’ll post later. It was so nice that my grandma was able to be here for that.

Anyway, that’s a quick rundown of our visit. There will be lots of pictures coming soon (they’re already in Ava’s photobucket if anyone wants a sneak preview, though).

Great American Seafood Cook Off!

I’m sure we all have our own favorite seafood recipes. Mine is grilled salmon. I’m not supposed to eat much fish during pregnancy because of mercury levels, but I am allowed to eat a small amount every couple of weeks, and salmon is usually my first choice when deciding which kind to eat!

I usually start by seasoning the salmon fillets with lemon pepper, garlic powder and salt. Then I make a marinade with about 1/3 cup each of soy sauce, brown sugar and water and ¼ cup of oil. I marinade the fillets in that for at least two hours, usually more like three or four hours. Then the grilling is up to Chad. I used to do the grilling on the George Foreman grill before we had an outdoor grill, but now it’s his job. I think he grills it about 6-8 minutes per side, though. Feel free to leave a comment with your own favorite seafood dish recipe! I’d love to try some new ones!

I definitely think this salmon recipe could be a serious contender for the Great American Seafood Cook off. I’m not even a big fan of seafood, but I love this recipe!! I think it would be a lot of fun to attend this event, too. We could probably get a lot of great ideas for other recipes to try at home. Plus, all the seafood is domestic, which I think is really great because you know where it came from and it’s so much fresher than anything else you can get!

OK, I promise to be back in full force tomorrow. I know I didn’t take much of a vacation from my blog, but that was the only thing I was keeping up with (sort of) while my grandparents were here. All of my entrecard drops, forums and emails were neglected for those few days. I really, really, needed that break, though. I’d been starting to get really overwhelmed with everything I try to keep up with online and everything else I have to do with Ava and around the house. So it was a very nice break.

Anyway, I’ll make sure to update about our visit either later tonight or tomorrow. Right now I have a post to write and my heartburn is KILLING me!!
