I’m thinking of starting something a little bit different on this blog, but I need to see how much interest there is first.
I’ve heard some really great reviews of the movie Fireproof (has anyone else seen it?) and I know that the book The Love Dare
is a big part of that movie. I’m thinking about buying them both so that Chad and I can watch the movie and then go through the book together.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in buying the book (and movie if you want to) and having a weekly discussion about it here. We wouldn’t have to share anything really personal, but I think it would help keep us all on track with it and it would also be neat to be able to talk about it with other people who are in the same part of the book.
So what do you think? Any interest in doing this with us?

(I posted this comment in Amy’s blog re “Pre-School?”, but is directed to you. I don’t know if you would read it, so I am pasting it here too.)
Lora – you have more knowledge about home schooling. Would you be able to direct me to tips or sites that would get me an idea how to start? I still want to consider home-schooling, but I am just so lost as how to come about it or how to start or even what materials do I need to required? Even if you or your mom have some tips or baby steps that could guide me through it, would be great!
I just realized that Jordan is turning 4 yrs old this year and I think I really need to start some sort of “pre-schooling” with him at home (and Aubrey can benefit too!). Any ideas? Help!

Laurie – No, I didn’t see it over there. My mom is going to do a post about it on Motherhood Moments in the next day or two. In the meantime, I’ll send you an email with a couple of links I plan on using (I’ll send them to anyone else who wants them, too!).

Lora, I like the idea about the little online “book club”. I even mentioned it to Jason tonight and he said he liked the idea and would enjoy going through it with me (shocker there! =). So just let me know when and if for sure you’ll be doing it so I can get started reading on time.

I just wanted to mention that I found The Love Dare book at Walmart.com for $7.50 plus $1.97 shipping to home. The total was $9.94 delivered. Just for anyone who is looking to buy this book. The cheapest I could find it on Amazon was $12.23 with shipping and tax.

Kelley – Thanks for that tip! I actually found mine on Amazon for $8.24 with free Super Saver Shipping. It will take a little longer to get here, but without that, the shipping would have been $4.98! Definitely cheaper to go with Walmart if you want the faster shipping! I wish I’d read this comment before I ordered mine!

I’d like to do that, but I probably wouldn’t stay caught up with everyone on their reading, just because I never seem to be able to stay caught up on books I’ve tried to read in the past. But we’ll see. Maybe this time will be different…if I even get to the store and buy it in good time. I never order things online. It’s something I should probably start doing though…

Thanks for the tip too, Kelley! I would have never thought of WalMart. I usually get most of my books over Amazon. Good thing, I haven’t ordered mine yet. I wonder how much they are at the WalMart store (no shipping there).
Fireproof have a very long wait over at Netflix.

I just watched Fireproof tonight, with Jeb and Sabrina. I was crying through the movie. I am so weepy at movies (well most movies!)
The beginning of the movie was a lil’ annoying (felt like we were watching a soap opera). It’s got a good storyline, premise, although a lil bit long and dragging. But all in all, it’s a good movie. I like it. I’ll have to buy the book next.

I think that’ll be a great idea. I have always wanted to watch the movie Fireproof. I have heard quite a bit about it.
I’ll try to see if I can rent it off of Netflix and watch it and then, get a copy of the book. I am all for good books
I just ordered a few books on dad’s raising their boys/girls. I believe those will be great reads for me and Jeb to learn in how to raise our kids in a Godly way.
1) “Raising a Modern-Day Knight: A Father’s Role in Guiding His Son to Authentic Manhood” by Robert Lewis
2) “King Me: What Every Son Wants and Needs from His Father” by Steve Farrar
3) “She Calls Me Daddy (Lets talk about life)” by Robert Wolgemuth
I’m excited to read them!
