Archive for February, 2009

I’m so excited that I’m down to 8 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight! My throwing-my-guts-up sickness last week helped a bit! LOL It seemed like I was just stuck at the same number for weeks, but then when I got sick, it went down a few pounds and has been continuing to go down slowly! So I guess one good thing came out of that really awful bug!

I’m also excited because I’ve lost all the weight I’ve lost so far without any dieting (believe me, there’s been no dieting of any kind LOL) or exercise equipment! I was doing Pilates for several weeks, but stopped last week while I was sick. I really need to start that again next week. Other than the Pilates, though, it’s all been from breastfeeding. Yay for breastfeeding!! :)

Love Dare

I just got my Love Dare book today (5-9 day shipping, my foot!), so I haven’t really had a chance to look through it much yet. I know the plan was to start on February 16, so some of you may have already started. Since it’s a book about marriage, which is pretty personal, I don’t want us to have to try to all be on the same chapter at exactly the same time and be worried if we fall behind. I think everyone is going to want to just take it at their own pace. My main goal in this is just to have people to talk to along the way who will actually know what we’re talking about!

So I think the plan at this point is that I’ll put up one post a week (or every few days or whatever you guys think would be good) about highlights from the week and anything else I want to share and then everyone else can share whatever they want to share (if anything) in the comments. I might try to make the weekly post a “sticky” post (so that it stays at the top of my blog all week so people can find it easily), but I’ll have to figure out how first. Since I’ve never done this before (I’ve just read other peoples’ blogs who are doing it and they write a post every day about what they’re learning, etc.), I’m not 100% certain what to expect, so we might have to change some things along the way. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

I’m going to try to get Chad to watch Fireproof with me tonight and hopefully start on the book tomorrow. When are all of you planning to start?

Women Drivers

OK, I lied. That wasn’t my last post…this will be my last post before Jeb moves the blogs. I couldn’t resist, though! Even though it picks on women drivers, this is the most hilarious video I’ve seen in a long time. Especially towards the middle, with the lady trying to back into a parking spot!

We finally made it to church this week! Even though I’m still really tired from being sick, none of us were actually sick, so we managed to get there! It was pretty unpleasant since Ava refused to nap again, but at least we were there this week! For the record, she only took a 20 minute nap on the way home, but she’s still going strong! Sigh.

Kelvin learned to blow raspberries this morning. The first time he did it, it was right in my face! LOL It’s really cute, though.

I think this will probably be my last post here until possibly Tuesday. Jeb says he’s going to be moving our blogs over to a new server on Sunday and Monday, so I won’t be posting until then. As long as I have time and energy, I’ll be getting posts up at Motherhood Moments and Screaming Pennies, though!

Thanks for all the get well wishes. I am doing better today, but definitely not 100%. I haven’t thrown up at all today, but I also haven’t eaten much. I have no appetite, so I’m basically just forcing down enough to produce milk for Kelvin. I am also very tired, probably from being slightly dehydrated still and from not eating and…oh yeah, from fighting off this bug!

Hopefully I’ll be able to be back to my regular routine tomorrow. Today I pretty much camped on the couch with the kids. I also got diapers washed, but only out of necessity.

I am really sick. I’ve been throwing up and had diarrhea all afternoon. It’s been awful. The only reason I’m up and posting right now is because I’m trying to keep some fluids down before I go to bed. I can tell I’m really dehydrated and I’m not making any breastmilk right now. Thank God for my stash in the freezer, even though it is like pulling teeth to get Kelvin to take anything out of a bottle.

Chad is out right now getting me some pepto-bismol (should have done my research first, though…you’re not supposed to take it while breastfeeding) and gatorade. I can’t wait to go to bed so hopefully my back will stop hurting.

And there is an example of my very poor writing skills, due to very bad sickness. The End!

HAVE I EVER?

My friend Tina over at Mummy Diaries tagged me for this. And since I feel really, really sick today and don’t want to come up with anything original, this is the perfect day to do this!

1. Have you ever been on TV?
Not that I know of.

2. Have you ever sung in public?
Not since I sang in the choir for church when I was a teen.

3. Have you ever dyed your hair blond?
Almost…I did lots of blond highlights once, so the overall effect was blond, but I still had a little brown in there.

4. Have you ever eaten frogs’ legs?
No, and that did not help my lack of an appetite! LOL

5. Have you ever received a present that you really hated?
Not that I can think of.

6. Have you ever walked into a lamp post?
No, but I’ve walked right into a door in the dark!

7. Have you ever cooked a meal by yourself for more than 15 people?
Not by myself, but there were more than 15 people at our house for Thanksgiving 2008. I did have help, though.

8. Have you ever fallen or stumbled in front of others?
Absolutely.

9. Have you ever done volunteer work?
I don’t think so.

And I will tag:
Toni
Stephanie
Tanya

Spam Comments

I get a lot of spam comments on this blog. Last week, I hadn’t moderated comments for about 6 hours and I had 75 comments waiting to be moderated…turns out 73 were spam! So, yeah, it annoys me a lot.

Every once in awhile, though, I get some pretty funny ones. I usually tell Chad about them right away, but right now neither of us can remember many of them. Tonight I got a comment from Spider saying,

Hello, stupid pendosegi

I should probably figure out what a pendosegi is before I post this, but I probably won’t because I’m really tired. Me being really tired is also probably the reason why that comment cracked me up! LOL

Or maybe I need to get out more…after all, who finds humor in their spam comments? Pretty soon, I’m going to be writing letters in response to spam emails like my friend’s father-in-law does! LOL (Sooo not picking on you or him, Stephanie. Me cracking up over spam comments just reminded me of that!)

*Sigh* Definitely not my most intelligent post ever. LOL I really need to go to bed. This is what happens when someone who is already sick with a cold stays up way too late. You end up with entire posts about spam comments that I will probably not even find funny when I read this post again in the morning. Hopefully I’ll read it before all of you do and delete it! LOL

Happy Homemaker Monday

On my bedside table:
The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child (Sears Parenting Library)

On my TV:
The Bachelor tonight. I’m so addicted!

On the menu for tonight:
Well, it was salmon, rice and broccoli, but Chad decided he wants to have this Chinese chicken we bought, so we’ll have that with rice and broccoli.

On my To Do List:
Grocery shopping (DONE!)
Fold laundry
Wash diaper covers/pocket diapers

New Recipe I tried last week:
Crock Pot Applesauce – It was so good!

In the craft basket:
Nothing at the moment. I still have Kelvin’s birth sampler waiting for me, though!

Looking forward to:
A week of not having to do much running around!

Homemaking Tip for this week:
Use shallow bins to keep your refrigerator organized (I have a post coming soon about this!).

Favorite Blog Post of the week (mine or other):
I’m going to have to come back to this one. I had one picked out and thought I bookmarked it, but I didn’t and I can’t remember who wrote it.

Favorite photo from last week:

Lesson learned the past few days:
That I *can* survive a day without the internet! LOL

On my Prayer List:
The Benjamites and The Knepp’s
My babies – hoping they feel better soon!

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Joshua 1:9

P.S. I don’t know what is wrong with these pictures. When I upload them, I click “Center”, but it keep putting them on the right side. I can put them wherever I want them on my other blogs, but this one won’t let me. Anyone know how to fix that?

I’m thinking I’m going to have to install bathroom safety products in our bathroom really soon. Ava just doesn’t get how yucky bathrooms are. She’s constantly in there lifting up the seat, putting toilet paper in it and diddling her fingers in the water! It is so gross! I’m constantly washing her hands and trying to devise ways to keep her out of there (and yes, she knows how to open the door). I think a good strong toilet lock might be in order. Plus I think it would be funny to have people over and have them not know how to open the toilet! OK, that would be mean…but it would still be funny…
