Am I Crazy?

I need all the other cloth-diapering moms who read this to tell me if I’m crazy for even thinking about this….

We’re planning a trip up to Wisconsin at the end of May and I’d really rather not use disposable diapers (I’ve been doing a lot of reading about all the chemicals in them and would like to avoid them if possible). I also don’t think anyone we’ll be staying with wants me putting our dirty cloth diapers in their washing machine.

So here’s the plan I’m considering (it’s not that elaborate…nothing I’d need project management software for LOL): I have enough Flip covers to alternate back and forth between two every day that we’ll be gone, without washing any of them (seriously, people, if you haven’t tried out Diaper Swappers, you have to….I got all these covers super-cheap!). I also have more than enough inserts and prefolds (to trifold in the Flips) to make it through the whole trip, but I’m worried about the smell. So I was thinking I might use the Flip disposable inserts for the first 2-3 days and then the cloth Flip inserts for the last 2 days. I usually wash diapers every two days without problems with smell, so we’d be home in time to wash on schedule.

Space is not an issue, either. Just covers and inserts don’t take up much room and even if I had to pack an entire suitcase of diapers (which I won’t), we’d have enough room in the van.

So what do you think? Am I insane?
